How To Make Healthy DIY Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Our lives are hectic; everyone is busy, all the time. But that’s a terrible excuse. So when I saw my dog staring at his bland bowl of dog food I got inspired to try my hand at some quick and easy DIY dog treats.
It’s no surprise that dogs love peanut butter but I had no idea just how crazy he’d go for these things. Take my word, unless you have a seriously bratty, stuck-up dog, your K9 will go crazy for these too. They’re super cheap, super easy, and super healthy! Here’s how to make them:
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil or unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter – organic, no-sugar added
- 1 cup filtered water
- 3 cups flour
Mash all the ingredients into a bowl, and using your hands turn it over and mix well for a uniform consistency.
Grease a cookie sheet with a tiny amount of olive oil. Roll out the dough onto the sheet, A rolling pin helps here, make it pizza dough thin. Or, roll up the dough into smallish sized balls.
Cut the dough into any desired shapes – dog bones, skulls, hearts, etc - before baking. Bake for 20 minutes at 350º, cool, break apart and serve!
This recipe is simple, the prep AND baking takes 30 minutes. Plus the treats are cheap and freezable. Make a ton and give them to friends or family for their dogs.
