NON TOXIC REVOLUTION CONTRIBUTORS
SHANEY JO DARDEN
Founder / Creative Director
When I first started to research the environmental links to cancer, I was surprised at the amount of toxins we are exposed to in our everyday life! I read every study I could find, most of them were written by scientists and the information was hard to understand, and left me frustrated, not knowing how to take the facts and make changes in my own life. I decided that it was the responsibility of KAB to create this new campaign called the Keep A Breast Non Toxic Revolution! The scientific data and reports that exist on this information needs to be translated into normal youth language, make it easy to read, easy to understand, fun, cool, and most importantly empower young people to become activists for NTR and take this information into their own life, families, and communities, so they can live a healthy life for years to come, and hopefully cancer free! I’m extremely passionate about NTR, I can’t wait to hear from all of you, what you’re doing to make changes in your day to day lives!

Joining Keep A Breast on the Non Toxic Revolution has been a personal dream realized. My passions - helping people, travel, art, the outdoors, and health and wellness - have frequently steered me towards new places, wonderful people, and shifted my world perspective. The Non Toxic Revolution has a natural place in my heart and I can't wait to explore new ways to share with others what myself and the Keep A Breast team learns along the way.
Working for Keep A Breast for many years I was always so intrigued by all the information we shared with young people about how the toxins in our environment could link to cancer. I'm so excited to have helped launch this site and really delve deeper into this world and present the information in ways people like myself can understand. Our team spent long nights over the last two years with all these hard to read crazy scientific journals and information and weed through everything to bring you all the main points stripped down, but I am so excited to be able to present this to the world as it's such easy life changing information.
I have been a supporter of The Keep A Breast Foundation for over 10 years. When they asked me to be a part of their "Non Toxic Revolution" initiative I jumped on the chance to help create images. Social causes and issue related art is what drives the Obey Awareness projects, so a graphic program for Keep A Breast to raise awareness about toxic chemicals was a perfect fit. Breast cancer prevention is personal for me because I have lost two Aunts to breast cancer, and my Mother is a breast cancer survivor. I feel privileged to work with KAB and hope that the work my studio, Studio Number One, and I created can be helpful to this important cause.

I am very happy to be a part of the NTR campaign. I learned a lot going out and taking a lot of these pictures, It was like a scavenger hunt. And I learned a lot in the process. More and more in my life I've tried to make better decisions with my actions. I think of this project as kind of a guide full of suggestions, not as a strict rule book. Almost nobody can do everything. But, if you can, use this information to make the better of your choices. In the long run, it will pay off for yourself and those around you.

In order for prevention to start early, education must start early, and Keep A Breast is crucial in this front in the battle on cancer. We're fortunate at Environmental Working Group to see the impacts that simple, healthy choices have over time, and we're committed, along with KAB, to ensuring younger generations have access to resources that enable and empower them to make the most of their health." - Ken Cook, President of Environmental Working Group www.ewg.org

Breast cancer risk increases with early puberty, and the average age at which American girls go through puberty has dropped dramatically in the last four decades. Healthy choices that reduce our daily exposure to chemicals that disrupt hormones may well prove to be a powerful tool in the fight against breast cancer. www.ewg.org
When KAB asked me to write the NTR web content it was a no-brainer. My passion for sharing my knowledge on commonplace toxins that mess up your body and increase the risk of breast cancer was exploding. I am happy to have found this outlet to educate and inform so that more young people have the information they need to make better choices. Thank you KAB for creating the Non Toxic Revolution!
Having known Shaney Jo Darden for many years now, and always appreciating her talent and ability to make things happen, it was obvious that joining the Keep A Breast team would be a good idea. When she explained to me the concept behind the Non Toxic Revolution, I knew that this would be the most informative, fun project I will have worked on. As most of us who are associated with the Keep A Breast Foundation, breast cancer has taken the lives of family members and/or friends. I lost two aunts and my grandmother to the battle with breast cancer. Luckily for myself and brothers, my mom was able to avoid what was assumed to be inevitable. I have learned so much working on this project, and now make a conscious effort to live as toxic free as possible. I feel that if we all exercise our freedom to choose what is best for ourselves, family and friends, we may have a better chance to counter the negative impacts of a toxic environment, which will benefit the generations to come.
Main PSA Concept and Motion Design
Working with the KAB team to put together the NTR PSA was equal parts alarming (learning the facts) and empowering (learning what change you can make). And the NTR message reaches far beyond breast cancer to all the other reasons we should live healthier, more aware lives. The result is probably the most gratifying work of I've done in my career. Thanks to everyone at KAB for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of the revolution.

NTR to me represents the importance of educating people on living a non-toxic lifestyle. The choices and decisions we make everyday directly affect not only our future but out children's future as well. NTR is amazing in the fact that the program gravitates towards the younger generation of kids that might not yet understand the importance of these lifestyle choices. Each day millions of products are sold over the counter that contain toxic, cancer causing chemicals and we as the public have a right to know what is being put on our food and in our products. It is my hope that with the launch of this program we can expose young people to the dangers of these toxic chemicals and help educate them to make better lifestyle choices. I feel really fortunate to be part of such a powerful movement and to be surrounded by people who REALLY want to make a difference. Lets all live longer, healthier and enjoy life. It's a beautiful thing.

The Non Toxic Revolution is an eye opener. Being a father has made me more aware of the dangers of toxic chemicals especially in my home. Learning about their harmful effects can greatly improve my family’s health and well-being. We all live busy lives and it’s easy to forget the important things like keeping our own environment healthy. I look forward to spreading the word and being an active supporter. Join the Revolution!
Being a part of the Non Toxic Revolution campaign has been such a great opportunity to make an impact on the world by educating others on how to lead a healthier and happier life. Not only am I having an impact on others, but I have also learned so much about all of the different toxins we are exposed to every day. It really makes me want to make the small changes to help the environment and myself. As someone whose family has personally been affected by breast cancer, I know it is especially important to inform the youth of the different ways they can decrease their risk through factors within their control. Making positive changes are the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.
Being a part of the Non Toxic Revolution has been an amazing experience! I have been conscious of the impact the things I do and eat have on my health and the planet, and I was so excited at the opportunity to share it with others. Through the campaign I have learned so much about all of the different toxins in the environment and have been able to live a healthier life by making educated decisions. I think it is important to empower youth to be able to make the same informed decisions in their own lives as I have. Having cancer in my family, I think it is important to be able to reduce your risk any way you can, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to help others do the same.
